Wedding Photographer Sussex - About Wedding Photography Services
My name is Raphael and I have over 10 years experience as a Professional Photographer.
My adventure with photography started when I was 7 years old and has been ongoing ever since.
I am primarily self-taught and am always trying to find my own way to achieve the same results as other professionals in the industry.
I met a lot of people, couples and singles, and have been to wonderful weddings, unforgettable places...
The knowledge I gained from those experiences is immeasurable.
I have done many types of photography over the years including nature or macro, though, I can say with certainty my passion for this work comes from peoples personalities, moods and feelings.
Those powerful and intangible things that elicit emotion and reaction from the viewer. The things that separate snapshots from photographs; things that appeal to more than our sense of sight and encapsulate a feeling to open later and re-experience to share with loved ones.
My photography philosophy and style
I believe that in hiring a professional wedding photographer, clients deserve a professional that is able to use his or her technological expertise and creative vision to create a product that clients and amateur photographers could not on their own.
With digital SLR cameras becoming more and more affordable, there are many amateur photographers out there posing as professionals.
My goal is to educate our clients on the differences, and provide artistic imagery that far surpasses other first-rate wedding photography studios.
Being able to quickly adjust camera settings, anticipate lenses needed for each scene, use on and off-camera lighting techniques, etc are crucial to being able to consistantly create a professional product.
Therefore, my wedding photography philosophy has three primary parts as follows:
Wedding photographers are artists and therefore must have a deep understanding of artistic
theory including concepts on composition, lighting, color, design, balance, etc.
Wedding photographers should be using professional grade camera, lenses and lighting
Wedding photographers are constantly in unusual lighting situations with significant time
constraints, thus wedding photographers must be masters of their equipment.
My style is Fresh, Modern, and Timeless so it is unique artistic and reportage mixed style and I love to make each and every shoot lots of fun!
Of course it depends on the situation and requirements of my clients but mainly I'm using two them:
Wedding reportage takes awareness of surroundings, knowledge of human tenancies, and patience.
Each image I take serves a purpose and has a point.
Each image captures an emotion, tells a story, or portrays a mood or feeling.
That's why you won't see me taking random images, for example, you stuffing your face with food or staring off into space.
I am always paying close attention to environment, listening in on conversations and anticipating that smile, laugh, tear, or hug.
I have my own crop in mind, my lighting set up perfectly, and I am waiting for that expression.
I am always trying to capture the details of your wedding with the same attention and with many of the same techniques as was described above.
Your day moves quickly and while you may not have the time to sit back and fully appreciate your cake, I will be sure to have gorgeous pictures of it.
Contemporary Artistic Style
Always in search of reflections, silhouettes, foregrounds, perfect symmetry, and extrapositions, my style is deeply rooted in creativity.
You will see me sneaking behind objects, shooting off mirrors, and running around to achieve different perspectives.
The idea is to turn ordinary into extraordinary through finding the interest of the composition in a scene that the average eye may not notice.
You've spent thousands of pounds on the details of your wedding like the rings, floral arrangements, centerpieces, venues, etc.
I am not going to let it slip past us!
And don't forget, I am going to take some pretty cool ring shots...
I will always believe, that there is so much more to wedding photography than just professional equipment. However, that is not to say your wedding photographer shouldn't have professional equipment.
Starting with camera bodies, curently I am using two of the most latest and high-performing wedding photography camera body: the Canon 5D Mark III. Each master photographer is equipped with this body.
I'm using also prime - Fixed Focal High-Speed lenses only as they providing best results. I'm not using any Zoom-type lenses due to worse image quality.
Here is detailed list of my professional equipment.
Canon 5D Mark III DSLR 22Mpix
Capture high-quality images that are full of detail with a 22.3 megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5+ image processor. Colours are bright but natural, and fine detail is preserved even in dark shadow areas and bright highlights.
Focus quickly and accurately, even on off-centre subjects, with a 61 point wide-area autofocus system. 41 cross-type points (five of which are extra sensitive double-cross type) ensure highly accurate tracking of moving objects.
The EOS 5D Mark III delivers superb picture quality whatever the lighting conditions. Keep shooting hand-held even after the sun goes down, thanks to an ISO 100-25,600 sensitivity range (extendable to ISO 102,400).
A magnesium chassis provides strength and durability without adding weight. Weather sealing offers protection against dust and moisture.
Canon EF 14mm f/2.8 L II USM Ultra-wide Lens
Super wide-angle framing creates a 114* diagonal angle of view, surpassing the human field of vision. Controlled by the photographer at will, the extreme perspective of the 14mm focal lenght permits dynamic compositions with extraordinary impact.
Incorporating a high-precision large aperture aspherical lens, the optical array preserves exceptional image quality across the entire image area. Dual UD lens elements achieve pleasing correction of aberration,
while optimum placement and coating minimize flare and ghosting that frequently occur with digital cameras. The large circular aperture and ring-type USM produce attractive background blur effects.
Highly resistant to both dust and moisure, this lens performs to exacting standards in a wide range of condition, meeting the most stringent demands of professional photographers.
Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 L II USM Wide Lens
Darkness conquered by the eye of the lens...illumination streaking across the field of vision. This large aperture f/1.4 lens captures subtle nuances of light with exquisite clarity.
Featuring the world's first practical application of SWC anti-reflective coating in a photographic lens, characterized by a structure finer than visible wavelenghts of light,
this lens successfuly keeps flare and ghosting to an absolute minimum, even when light enters the lens at high angles of incidence. Producting superior delineation suited for shooting scenarios from photojurnalism and advertising photography to snapshot,
the optical array utilizes two molded-glass aspherical and two UD lens elements, which effectively function to suppress distortion and aberrations. The circular aperture creates pleasing out-of-focus effects.
With dustproof and waterproof construction and full-time manual mechanical focus, this lens performs to the most demanding professional requirements.
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 L USM Wide Standard Lens
This lens captures natural images at a pleasantly wide angle. This large aperture f/1.4 lens produces sharp, natural images in a variety of shooting scenarios, including studio and portrait photography.
The large aperture makes it possible to preserve the atmosphere of subtle interior lighting effects, while the ground aspherical lens and floating mechanism ensure superior imaging performance over the entire shooting range.
The focus mechanism is a ring-type USM with rear focus, ensuring fast, quiet autofocus. Full-time manual focus also permits fine-tuning as needed.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L USM Standard Lens
This high-speed standard lens has the ability to take portraits in soft interior lighting, without harsh flash illumination: with its bright f/1.2 aperture, the lens captures attractive, natural-looking images like never before.
The ultra-large aperture creates a shallow depth of field, while the circular aperture diaphragm produces the kind of attractive background burring that makes the subject stand out.
The precise aspherical lens element delivers high-resolution high-contrast images. A ring-type USM combines with a high-speed CPU and optimized AF algorithms to achiev fast, quiet autofocusing.
Lens placement and coating have been optimized to minimize the problems of flare and ghosting that frequently occur with digital cameras.
Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 L II USM Portrait Lens
An 85mm lens is an essential tool for portrait and fashion photography. Preserving the optical performance of its predecessor, which set the standard for portrait lenses, this lens offers a significant increase in autofocus speed.
This virtually instantaneous focus means fewer missed photo opportunities. Characterized by a large aperture, the brightest in its class, this lens is favorite for professional studio and portrait use.
Incorporating a ground aspherical lens and floating mechanism, aberrations are corrected at distances as close as 0.95 meters (3.0 feet), and exceptional imaging performance is maintained from widest aperture throughout the shooting range.
Flare and ghosting that frequently occur with digital cameras are minimized as well.
Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 L USM Portrait Lens
Shooting from a slightly greater distance makes it possible to produce attractive portraits with an emphasis on natural expression.
This compact 135mm lens delivers exceptionally sharp delineation throughout its entire range, making it perfect for this type of portraiture.
Nearest focusing distance of 0.9m (2.8 feet) permits creative close-ups and impressive framing techniques. Two UD lens elements effectively correct secondary spectrum,
while ring-type USM and rear focus produce fast, quiet autofocus that can respond to even the most impulsive artistic urge.
